The weekend after Thanksgiving, Georgia faced off against Georgia Tech in the annual matchup of Clean, Old Fashioned Hate.

Georgia Tech was headed for the ACC Championship Game. Georgia was looking to recover from an abysmal season, including a 4-4 record in the SEC. Tech was favored to win, and win big. Everyone was talking about the players in Gold and White that Georgia didn’t land, and what it would have been like had they suited up in Red and Black.

Tech entered with playmakers all over the offense. Georgia was struggling. They had been gashed by Tennessee and humiliated. They lost to Kentucky but someone managed to win the turnover battle to take down Auburn a few weeks before.Their quarterback hadn’t been living up to expectations. The secondary was undersized. Where would this team end up in the bowl pecking order?

2009 Georgia-Georgia Tech?

Try 2006. It looked bad. And then this happened.

Thompkins shines in Fox’s debut at UGA

ATHENS — Thompkins got the Fox era off to a winning start with a career-high 25 points in a 67-59 victory over New Orleans of the Sun Belt Conference. Thompkins, who made 7 of 11 field-goal attempts and had 12 rebounds, is lighter and leaner than a year ago and absolutely is the go-to player for the Bulldogs.
