Today's Treasures:
Television:
Samurai Girl. They have been airing commercials for this show non-stop, and I noticed that the lead actress was very familiar. It is actually Jamie Chung, the girl from The Real World San Diego. She was on the cast with Frankie Abernathy, who passed away in 2007.
While I’m talking about television, let me just mention how excited I am about episode two (season two) of Gossip Girl tonight *spoiler*. I’d like to open the discussion on Serena and Dan getting back together already?? I’m sorry but I suffered too much in the finale to have this so neatly resolved…
Film:
I’m really bummed that they are making Ghostbusters 3, but I can’t wait for G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra.
Food & Beverage:
For gameday, we made our own bloody mary mix. I looked online for interesting recipes, but they were all pretty similar. I was happy with the way ours turned out. Here is the recipe we used, but the important part is that you let the mix sit over a night or two.
V8 original - low sodium (whole bottle)
worcestershire sauce
horseradish
lemon juice (2 lemons)
salt
pepper
a pinch of celery salt
sriracha
just a little chopped garlic
5-10 olives
olive juice
1/2 - 1 cube beef bouillon
Like I said, let it sit for a night or two so the spices can infuse.
ADD to your glass when serving:
- 1-2 shots (1.5-3oz) of vodka. something a little nicer (stoli, absolut, gray goose) is good to use because you don’t want to taste the alcohol.
- celery stalk
- heart of palm
- olives stuffed with blue cheese
- lime juice to taste
- tabasco to taste
SEC Football:

Look at this boy, I mean he’s always in the air. I just don’t understand why everyone is so surprised that he did this:
Moreno does this stuff all the time, this was just the most photogenic occasion. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mean he doesn’t deserve praise for it, I just don’t see why this is getting so much attention. He is a star player, I expect nothing less.
